Shifting Woods: An Immersive Tile-Based Adventure Awaits
Hello again my tabletop gamers and meeple tamers! I finally come to you with a new prototype print and play, and it's called Shifting Woods. It's a tile-based game about finding an exit from a forest, but the forest shifts and changes - and that's not the only challenge you'll face.
In Shifting Woods, you'll embark on a journey through a dynamic, ever-changing forest environment. Your goal is to locate the elusive exit before the forest and its inhabitants take their toll on you. The tiles that make up the forest will shift and rearrange, forcing you to constantly adapt your strategy and explore new paths.
But the forest isn't the only obstacle you'll encounter. You'll have to contend with three distinct animal threats: bears, wolves, and a fearsome sabertooth lion.
Bears
The bears in Shifting Woods are driven by their insatiable hunger for honey. They'll roam the forest, passively minding their own business until they come into direct contact with a player. At that point, they'll become a formidable foe, ready to defend their territory.
Wolves
The wolves in Shifting Woods are pack hunters, and they're not to be taken lightly. They'll work together, requiring at least one other wolf on the same tile as the player in order to deal damage. Navigating the forest while evading these cunning predators will be a true test of your survival skills.
Sabertooth Lion
The most dangerous of the three animal threats is the lone sabertooth lion. This apex predator will relentlessly pursue the player, driven by an insatiable hunger. Outrunning or outsmarting this fearsome beast will be a constant challenge, as it will stop at nothing to claim you as its next meal.
In Shifting Woods, you'll have to carefully manage your wounds. If you sustain three wounds, it's game over. But finding the exit before the animals deal those three wounds is no easy feat. You'll need to strategize and adapt to survive the ever-shifting forest.
I'm excited to share that Shifting Woods is now available as a free print and play prototype on the Out of Play website through itch.io . If you enjoy the game and want to support its development, you can also choose to make a donation. Your support will help me continue to refine and expand this immersive tile-based adventure.
While I'm thrilled to introduce Shifting Woods, I have another idea in the works that I'm eager to share with you all soon. A zombie-themed game is on the horizon, and I can't wait to see what you think of it.
For now, I hope you'll dive into the Shifting Woods and let me know what you think. Happy gaming, and happy Fourth of July!
